Alsace discovery: wine, gastronomy, heritage and art

27 rue de la Première Armée
68700 Wattwiller

Discover the richness of the terroir in the southernmost region of the Alsace Wine Route, with a day to awaken all your senses! Water will accompany your escapades through Wattwiller and its vineyards in the Vosges foothills.

A first detour through Wuenheim to the Cave du Vieil Armand, will introduce you to the secrets of Alsace wine production, the different grape varieties and the importance of the Vosges soil.

For lunch, the mouth-watering exhalations on the way back to Wattwiller will invite you to sample the delicate tarts flambées of the Flamma Stuwa, an institution of local cuisine if ever there was one.

Once you've had your fill, take a guided tour of the outskirts of Wattwiller to discover the many treasures the town has to offer. A melting pot of heritage and nature at the foot of the Vosges mountains, Wattwiller is a sumptuous village at the confluence of the Route des Crètes and the Route des vins d'Alsace. The village is famous for its mineral water, known since Roman times, its vineyards and its church, listed as a historic monument.

Finally, the Fondation François Schneider opens its doors to you. This contemporary art center is dedicated to the theme of water, and its exhibition will help you unravel the mysteries of Wattwiller's attachment to this element. Its sumptuous gardens punctuate the visit.
