Guided tour: the iron mines of Bourbach-le-Bas

The theme of this guided visit:Geology.

Follow in the footsteps of 18th- and 19th-century miners. In the heart of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park, visit two galleries nestled between fields and forests, as well as the old coal-mining site and the historic site. Discover the history of the region's mining industrialization and explore the volcanic and sedimentary rocks that have shaped our local geology!

  • Loaned helmets and lamps,
  • Picnic to bring along,
  • Picnic areas,
  • The mines are cool, so bring suitable clothing,
  • Appropriate footwear and clothing for walking on trails and paths,
  • Materials provided according to activities,
  • Not accessible to disabled persons,
  • Most excursions take place in the mountains. Remember to check the distance and altitude difference,
  • 6 km forest walk + mine visits,
  • Supervision by a member of Maison de la Terre.
